about

8. silver - i recorded this onto 4-track in my bedroom at lobot in west oakland. lobot was/is a big warehouse where ten other artists and musicians lived and put on art shows and concerts. this was right around the time we started playing shows as a four piece: sam flax: saxophone, vocals, bass and guitar / amy blaustein: drums and vocals / pat thomas: drums and various percussion / myself: singing and guitar. we’d been playing this song for a while, but i was trying to record a bunch of demos so we could get it together to record another album. everybody already knew the song so i’m not quite sure what i was thinking about at the time. i do remember playing a lot of music by myself in that room and having good full band rehearsals in the “music room.” it was a wonderful and truly weird time in my life.
